
Frances Chapman
Director
Frances has been a proud member of the Thunder Bay community since 2013. She is a lawyer, professor and advocate for women and for those at odds with the justice system. Frances obtained her JD and LLM degrees from The University of Western Ontario in 2002 and 2006, respectively, and her PhD from Osgoode Hall Law School at York University in 2009.
After teaching for six years at the University of Waterloo, Frances left Southwestern Ontario to become a founding professor at the Bora Laskin Faculty of Law, Lakehead University, where she is currently a full-time professor. Frances teaches a course on Family Violence in addition to classes on Tort and Criminal law, and her publications include those on criminal law defenses, wrongful convictions, psychological coercion, parental alienation, violence against women, and domestic violence.
She is an avid pug dog enthusiast.
